Hello HoneyFitz fans!  I’m Hannah Matthew, new mom, wife, interior designer, party stylist, and blogger and I’m thrilled to be here today to chat about how event design trends relate to interior design trends.  Thanks for having me, Jenn and Suzie!  I find that my design style is the same, whether it be for an intimate party, an interior space, or an elaborate affair.  Of course each event should be unique as should each space, but my overall aesthetic for interiors and events sits under one umbrella.  I would describe my style as traditional with a twist.  In terms of interiors, that means crown molding, wainscoting, furniture with elegant lines, and a neutral palette with a hint or pop of color and whimsy.  Similarly, for events I love to see a formal place setting laid out the traditional way, cut crystal stemware, sophisticated floral arrangements, and neutral linens with a touch of flair.  Luckily, the current trends seem to be airing on the side of timeless design which I’m so happy to see.

I adore a palette of white, ivory, cream, and bone with a hint of blush and gold.  It’s graceful and feminine and you can’t go wrong withe that.  I even chose the look for my own wedding back in 2012 and I’m confident that the style will stand the test of time.

All white with natural elements is also trending at the moment and I love it for both events and interiors.  This wedding is spot on, as are these interior spaces:

If you’re drawn to brighter pops of color and a more graphic look, you’ll love these two dinner parties and correlating spaces:
